Islington celebrates National Poetry Day

********PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES**********<br><br>As part of the celebrations for National Poetry Day (6 October) in Children’s Book Week (3-7 October), four Islington Council libraries will be hosting poetry events for local primary schools.<br><br>South Library<br>115-117 Essex Rd, N1 2SL<br>Tuesday 4 October <br>10.15am to 11.15am<br>Writer, poet and live artist, Dorothea Smartt will be performing some of her poems and some by other poets, on the theme of relationships and friendship, with a chance for children to discuss the poems and chat to her afterwards.<br><br>North Library <br>Manor Gardens (about 100 yards off junction with Holloway Road), N7 6JX<br>Tuesday 4 October<br>2pm to 3pm <br><br>The excellent Paul Lyalls will be performing some of his poetry to help us celebrate National Poetry Day in Children’s Book Week. Paul has worked with, among others, John Hegley, Benjamin Zephaniah, Roger McGough and many more and has appeared at the Edinburgh Festival.<br><br>West Library <br>Bridgeman Road, N1 1BD <br>Thursday 6 October <br>11-12am <br><br>and<br><br>Archway Library<br>Hamlyn House, Highgate Hill, N19 5PH<br>Thursday 6 October<br>2-3pm<br><br>At two libraries, best selling author, Nick Toczek will be performing his ‘Million Miles an Hour’ show, an hour of a hilarious mix of poems, baffling magic tricks and fantastic tales.<br><br><br>NB: these events are being offered to local primary classes and/or under fives groups.
