Hundreds of residents are expected to take to the streets on Wednesday 28 September for the annual Autumn Amble through some of N1’s loveliest green spaces. <br><br>The free event starts at 11am, with walkers able to join the guided walk at any of four points, where they can also try out some fun leisure activities. <br><br>Participants can try croquet at Gibson Square (just off Liverpool Road), pick up some gardening tips at Culpeper Community Gardens (behind Sainsbury’s in Angel), and learn Tai Chi on Islington Green.<br><br>At 12 noon, the walkers will meet up at Islington Town Hall, where there will be complimentary refreshments and treats for tired feet, such as massages and advice on foot care. <br><br>The Autumn Amble is being jointly run by Camden and Islington Health Walks (part of Islington Council’s greenspace and leisure division), and Islington Primary Care Trust. The walk is aimed at over-55s, but people of all ages are welcome to participate. Islington Mayor, Jonathan Dearth, will also be joining in the walk.<br><br>Executive member for sustainability, Cllr Bridget Fox, said: “This is the third year for this popular event, which aims to promote the benefits of physical activity to residents.” <br><br>“Each year we have a theme - previous walks have focussed on local history, and this year we are looking at Islington’s green spaces and the many positive activities in our parks. I hope lots of people will come along and enjoy the day.”
