Keeping it green with Islington business breakfast

*******PHOTO OPPORTUNITY********<br><br>What: The ‘tidy business breakfast’ and opportunity to talk to local businesses about their involvement in the scheme.<br>When: Friday 23 September from 9am <br>Where: Executive Centre, Business Design Centre, Upper Street, Islington, N1<br><br>Businesses participating in the council’s new Tidy Business Standards pilot scheme are invited to a ‘tidy business breakfast’ to celebrate their achievement.<br><br>The breakfast will be an opportunity for businesses to learn more about how they can contribute to a ‘greener Islington’, raising awareness about commercial responsibilities for waste disposal and recycling in the borough. <br><br>More than thirty Islington businesses have already signed up for the Tidy Business Standards pilot and they have been assessed on duty of care for waste disposal, recycling practices and other community initiatives. <br><br>The scheme rewards businesses that meet tidy business standards with bronze, silver or gold awards for their achievements. <br><br>Councillor Bridget Fox, Executive Member for Sustainability said: “It’s great to see businesses jumping on board this scheme. The Council is always looking for new ways to encourage people in Islington to reduce, reuse and recycle waste and that includes our local businesses.<br><br>“The breakfast event is an opportunity for the Council to say "thank you" to these pioneer businesses and encourage even more organisations to take part in the scheme.”<br><br>The ‘tidy business breakfast’ is to be held on Friday 23 September from 9am at the Executive Centre, Business Design Centre, Upper Street, Islington, N1 0QH<br><br>Tidy Business Standards is a nation-wide scheme, run in conjunction with Encams and ISCL Accord. <br><br>For more information phone Contact Islington on 020 7527 2000.
