Adults and children throughout the borough will have an extra day to experience cultural delights when the N4 Library opens its doors to the public on Sunday 18 September as part of the Open House London weekend.<br><br>Islington’s N4 Library joins 23 other Islington landmarks such as the Almeida Theatre, Old Sessions House – Clerkenwell Green and the Union Chapel that will be opened as part of the weekend event.<br><br>The event aims to give Londoners the opportunity to experience buildings they may not normally have access to and explore, debate and better understand architecture, engineering and design in the capital. Entry is free.<br><br>The library is one of more than 600 buildings across London that are participating in <br>the event that will turn the capital into a living architectural exhibition.<br><br>Opened in January 2004 and designed by Stirling Prize winner Wilkinson Eyre Architects, the N4 library building wraps around the old Victorian School Board building.<br><br>The fascade has two modernist "gatehouses" beside triple-height glass with views into an atrium and neon sculpture by Vong Phaophanit and Clare Oboussier.<br><br>The library will be offering a normal service to customers on the day and guided tours of the building will be available upon request. N4 shares the building with the City and Islington Centre for Lifelong Learning.<br><br>The N4 Library is situated at 26 Blackstock Road, Finsbury Park N4 2DW, and will be open from 10am until 3pm on Sunday 18 September.
