The old Charles Lamb primary school has been demolished, and from the rubble will rise the innovative new building for New North Community School, which is temporarily housed at Ecclesbourne school. The new school will play a major part in community renewal and will include a children’s centre and facilities which will be open to all the community.

The project will also make a major contribution to regeneration in Islington by providing affordable housing, including key worker housing, adjacent to the school. The Ecclesbourne site will be developed for private housing, preserving the old school building, once the school has moved into its new facilities on the Charles Lamb site following the expected completion in Easter 2007.

Islington Council’s partners in the project are

CSS ltd (developers),
Sprunt (architects),
Bluestone (building the school) ,
Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association (ISHA) (developing the affordable housing)
Durkan building the housing and developing Ecclesbourne site
CEA@Islington as project managers

Ends
