Ever wondered what wildlife you can find on your doorstep? Now is your chance to take a closer look.

Following on from last year's fantastic response, Wild On Your Doorstep is back again. Run by Islington’s Nature Conservation Team, Wild on Your Doorstep is a photographic competition where the subject might be a wild animal, plant or place in Islington. This might be something as common as a blackbird, or as unusual as a hedgehog; as small as a dandelion, or as tall as an oak tree.

Over 200 people entered last year with pictures as diverse as graffiti walls to spider’s webs with ages ranging from primary school children of 4 years to pensioners of 75. So whether you are a budding David Attenborough, or just have a keen eye and a disposable camera, this competition is for you. With over £1,000 of photographic prizes up for grabs what have you got to lose?

Cllr Bridget Fox, executive member for sustainability said:

"There's a wealth of wildlife and creative talent in Islington - what this competition does is bring the two together with surprisingly inventive and beautiful results.

Last year's entries were of an amazingly high standard and showed great imagination - I can't wait to see what residents come up with this year."

To enter just fill the entry form from Islington Ecology Centre Tel: 020 7354 5162 or download one at - http://pubweb/Environment/whatsnew.asp

Don't forget to include your photograph and return to us by 29 September.

Winners will be announced on 10 October.

Remember to put your name, address and contact number on the back of each photograph and write ‘Wild on Your Doorstep Photographic Competition’ clearly on the front of the envelope.

Entry forms can be sent to:
Islington Ecology Centre
191 Drayton Park
Islington
London
N5 1PH
Tel: 020 7354 5162

Or dropped into Snappy Snaps Angel, on Upper Street, opposite the Angel tube station.

For more information contact the Islington Nature Conservation Team on Tel: 020 7354 5162 or Email: Islingtonecologycentre@dsl.pipex.com

ENDS
