Hundreds of children and their parents packed into Islington's adventure playgrounds as part of play day (Wednesday 4 August 2005). <br><br>Eleven playgrounds took part with children and young people choosing a theme ranging from a beach party and sports day to carnival and a pirates of the Caribbean party. Everyone was welcome and best of all its was free! The overall theme for 2005 was "fit for play" and children, young people and families were encouraged to walk to the adventure playgrounds in their area.<br><br>Barnard Park - beach party<br>Cape - giant art<br>Cornwallis - carnival<br>Crumbles Castle - Get fruity day<br>King Henry's Walk - Pirates of the Caribbean party<br>Lumpy Hill - games old and new<br>Martin Luther King - sports day<br>3 Corners - play day<br>Timbuktu - fancy dress<br>Toffee Park - it's a knockout<br>Waterside - fitness day<br><br>Oliver Reese Brady who spent the day at Barnard Park said: "The painting was good and I liked helping make the beach."<br><br>Islington playgrounds are aiming to host one large event in 2006. Islington Council's Listen Up provided each of the 11 playgrounds with a large canvass and paints so that young people had the chance to say what type of activity they would like to see for play day 2006 and why it is important to them. <br><br>To find out more about all the activities taking place in Islington during the summer pick up a copy of School's Out from any leisure centre or council building.
