***Photo opportunity***Photo opportunity***Photo opportunity***Photo opportunity***<br><br>More than 300 local children will witness a spectacular mountain bike stunt ride demonstration at Poole’s Park Primary School to mark the launch of the school as a new venue for safe cycling courses for children.<br><br>Poole’s Park Primary School will be hosting a number of free, safe cycling courses throughout the summer and the new academic year, aimed at teaching children the skills necessary to cycle on the road safely.<br><br>R&J Rideguide will be putting on a 45-minute performance for children from years 5 and 6 and will highlight the dangers in riding on/off road and on pavements, advocate the benefits of safety helmets and promote cycling as fun and a great form of exercise.<br><br>Children will also receive a free cycling ‘goodie’ pack which includes a training course application form, safe cycling comics and stickers.<br><br>Councillor Bridget Fox, executive member for sustainability, said: "Cycling is a fun and environmentally-friendly way to get active, but it’s important for our local children to understand the safety implications. This demonstration, along with the safe cycling courses, ensures that our children can have fun whilst giving parents peace of mind.”<br><br>The safe cycling course will be offered to pupils in years 5 and 6 and is a combination of on-road, off-road and theory training, coordinated by qualified instructors trained to new national standards.<br><br>The mountain bike stunt demonstration will take place at Poole’s Park Primary School, Lennox Road, London N4 3NW this Thursday 7 July at 2pm.<br><br>The event is one of a series of safe cycling events for kids in Islington this summer.
