The school education project is one part of this, and a publication is also being produced to celebrate the diverse people, history, stories and buildings that make the area unique.

Islington's executive member for sustainability, councillor Bridget Fox, will attend the presentation of the children’s work. She said:

“I am really looking forward to seeing the children’s impressions of Holloway Road, and their work documenting its past. People from all over the world live in Islington - it’s important that we have a sense of pride in the place we share. Community involvement like this school project will help make the A1 Borough project to transform Holloway Road a long-term success.“

“Community involvement is a key priority in the A1 Borough project, and indeed all of the council’s works. Grass-roots programmes, such as this school project, greatly contribute to the success of any regeneration by developing ownership within the community.”

For information on the Holloway Road HERS and the forthcoming publication, contact Mike McGill on 020 7527 2607.

Ends
