Islington Council has evicted Louis Gaiquay, aged 55, from his home today (Thursday 23 June) after he caused misery and nuisance to dozens of his neighbours on an estate in Burder Close, Highbury, N4.<br><br>Judge Armand Jones also granted an Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) to prevent him from causing any further harassment, alarm or distress to his neighbours at the hearing on May 26 at Clerkenwell County Court. <br><br>The ASBO bans Mr Gaiquay from causing harassment, alarm or distress anywhere in the country or from contacting named victims.<br> <br>This is the first time an ASBO has been linked to possession action against a council tenancy in Islington. It demonstrates the importance placed on tackling anti-social behaviour in the borough. <br><br>Repeated callouts were made to police by distressed residents <br><br>Incidents include:<br><br>· Drunken behaviour and noisy parties;<br>· Aggressive shouting and intimidating behaviour towards residents;<br>· Indecent exposure and abusive language;<br>· There were occasions when his visitors rang on the buzzers of other residents to gain access to the block.<br> Damage to council property. <br><br>Cllr Jyoti Vaja, Executive Member for Housing and Community Safety said: "We will take whatever action is necessary when dealing with anti social tenants. Nobody should have to put up with behaviour like this. The council will continue to work closely with the police and Homes for Islington to improve the quality of life on our estates."<br><br>The case involved close working between Officers from the Police Mildmay Safer Neighbourhoods Team, Homes For Islington Boleyn Road Area Housing Office, Anti-social Behaviour Team, Islington Council and residents.<br><br>Ann Lucas, Homes for Islington Board Chair, said: “Council residents deserve to live in safe and secure environments. Therefore, antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated on council estates and we will continue to work with the council, police and residents to remove people who disrupt the lives of their neighbours and cause harm to the community.”<br><br>Ends
