Year 5 & 6 boys and their parents from St Mary's and Grafton schools have been invited to take part. Initially, four sessions will take place putting football as a topic for discussion about all sorts of reading experiences, whether it be from books or match programmes. Freddie Ljungberg, Islington's reading champion will nominate at least one of his favourite books. Five books read earns a silver certificate, 10 a gold one. Ten Premiership reading champions choose a children’s and adult book. Libraries get two copies of each title ( up to 40 books). Each child gets £15 (via library) to buy 3 books. Children taking part will get free “bootbags” from the FA Premier League, free books of their own choice through the National Literacy Trust’s “Reading is Fundamental” project and a surprise goodies from Arsenal FC. And, there’ll be two visits to Arsenal FC - to get a tour of the stadium and in a team photo shoot in the summer.Ends
