Contact Islington - Islington Council's customer contact centre is opening once a month on a Saturday making it easier for residents to pay their rent or renew their parking permit.Councillor George Allan, executive member for customer focus said: "By opening on a Saturday we are making it easier for people to access council services, since not everyone can get to our offices on weekdays during usual opening hours."Contact Islington is one of the reasons that Islington Council become the fastest improving council in the country. We know that we still have more to do but we are committed to providing easy access to our services and shaping them to the needs of local people."Opened in October 2003, Contact Islington is a customer contact centre providing email, internet, phone and one to one access to a range of council services. Contact Islington is on the ground floor of 222 Upper Street, N1. In January 2005:Over 37850 calls were made to Contact Islington with over 95 per cent of them answered within 20 seconds Over 5100 people came into the customer contact centre Upper Street and waited an average of eight minutes to see a member of staff100 per cent of the 1113 email received were acknowledged by Contact Islington within one hourTelephone lines are open Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm Front office for personal callers Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 6pm and every fourth Saturday of the month 9am to 1pmSaturday morning openings in 2005February 26March 19April 23May 28June 25July 23August 27September 24October 22November 26December 17Ends
