Routemasters come to Islington Museum

Islington Council will host a photography exhibition dedicated to the much loved Islington Routemasters from Wednesday 2 February to Sunday 20 March 2005.The exhibition which features photos by local photographer Jennifer Chapman looks at the life of the Routemaster buses, including the old number 73. "Routemaster buses are a London icon. Popular with local people and tourists alike they are a great way to get around London. Our museum has some great exhibitions and this is one if your interested in the history of London's buses. So hop on a bus to Upper Street and take a look, as it could be your last chance as the number 19 and 38 - the last of Islington's routemasters will also be gone soon."Other exhibitions that are still ongoing include 'Islington's War'An exhibition based on the borough's experiences of the Second World War. Due to its' popularity the museum is continuing part of it as a permanent display. Wartime Islington - Living Memory GalleryAn exploration of life and events in Islington during the Second World War, including the recreation of a wartime kitchen. The History of IslingtonAn exhibition which tells the story of Islington from Prehistoric Age to the Edwardian Period.All the above exhibitions are free and are at Islington Museum, Upper Street, London N1 2UD. The museum is open 11am to 5pm Wednesday to Saturday and 2pm to 4pm Sunday.
