Elthorne peace garden reopens

*********PHOTO OPPORTUNITY*********** On Sunday 18 July the third Elthorne Festival, marking the reopening of the peace garden dedicated to international peace and Philip Noel-Barke will take place at Elthorne Park. Islington's Mayor Cllr Joan Coupland and peace campaigner Bruce Kent will reopen the peace garden. Storyteller Lesley Rushworth will also read a specially prepared story. Bruce Kent returns to the garden after opening it 20 years ago as a memorial to those who died and suffered from the nuclear bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. There will be music, refreshments, story telling for kids and families clown and magician, face painting, temporary tattoos, arts and crafts and information stalls from different projects at the sports grounds. Local musicians, artists and traders take part in the festival will be there to celebrate the vibrant and diverse community of Elthorne.
