Consultation Dates: 30 May 2008 to 30 June 2008
Islington Council wants to hear your views on our ideas to improve the Sobell Leisure Centre, Kinloch Park and the surrounding open space.
Sobell is one of Islington's largest and most popular leisure centres, but the building and its facilities are now in a serious state of disrepair. The redevelopment project gives us a unique opportunity to secure the future of the centre as part of Islington's 2012 Olympic legacy.
Among the benefits we want to deliver for all the community are:
Improved sports and leisure facilities
Additional community facilities
More greenspace
New housing
From Friday 30 May to Monday 30 June we are consulting with local people and centre users to find out what they think of our ideas for the site.
As part of the consultation, local residents and Izz Card members at the Sobell Leisure Centre will receive a brochure explaining the options with a questionnaire enclosed. Copies will also be available from the Sobell Centre and can be downloaded from this web page.
You can also complete the questionnaire on-line.
An exhibition on the options for the future of the Sobell Leisure Centre will be on display at the Sobell throughout the consultation from Friday 30 May to Monday 30 June. Staff will also be available at specific times to discuss your queries - details of times are in the brochure.
You can go on a guided tour of the site to get a better idea of why the buildings are in need of redevelopment. Please call 020 7527 2192 to reserve a place. The tours take an hour and places are limited to 12 per tour.
Win a Prize!
By sending back your completed questionnaire you could be one of ten lucky people and win £50 of gift vouchers.
What Happens Next?
The consultation will run until 30 June 2008. Centre users and residents' views will then be presented to councillors before any final decisions are made. Please give us your details when you complete the questionnaire if you would like us to keep you updated on this project. You can also check progress on this website.
