Voluntary, Community and Faith Property Consultation

Consultation Dates: 4 April 2007 to 11 May 2007


The Council has undertaken consultation with voluntary, community and faith organisations who occupy council property without any form of lease. This affects approximately 60 organisations in the borough, and a consultation paper and questionnaire was sent to them.

The consultation paper set out a proposal for an accommodation strategy for council properties occupied by the voluntary sector, covering:

  • the grant of leases
  • agreeing a policy about rent, repair and maintenance costs
  • putting in place a grant system to assist groups who are unable to pay market rent, and repair and maintenance costs.

Target Groups

The target group was voluntary organisations.

Consultation Methods

The consultation method was self-completion questionnaires.

Islington Wards Involved

All wards were consulted.
