Islington Council, in partnership with EC1 New Deal for Communities (NDC), is very keen to improve the range of leisure, sport and community facilities available at these sites.

Having carried out some initial research with local groups, including schools, sports clubs and tenants’ associations, we have worked up some refurbishment ideas for both facilities and the public space around them.

From Friday 9 November to Monday 10 December we are consulting with local people and centre users to find out what they think of these ideas. It is also a chance to find out what kinds of sports, leisure and community facilities people want to see in the area.

• As part of the consultation, local residents and Izz Card members at Ironmonger Row Baths and Finsbury Leisure Centre will receive a brochure explaining the options with a questionnaire enclosed. Copies will also be available from both centres and can be downloaded from the link below.

• You can also complete our questionnaire online.

• An exhibition on the options for the future of Ironmonger Row Baths and Finsbury Leisure Centre will be on display in both buildings throughout the consultation from Monday 12 November to Monday 10 December. Staff will also be available at specific times to discuss your queries – details of times are in the brochure.

• You can go on a guided tour of the buildings to get a better idea of why a programme of refurbishment is needed. Please call Finsbury Leisure Centre Reception on 020 7253 2346 to reserve a place. The tours take an hour and places are limited to 12 per tour.

What Happens Next?

The consultation will run until 10 December 2007. Centre users and residents' views will then be presented to councillors and EC1 NDC before any final decisions are made.
