Cashiers

Members of the public can pay for the following services at  222 Upper Street.

Using cheques and debit or credit cards, you can pay the following bills in person:

  • council tax
  • business rates (debit cards only)
  • parking tickets
  • sundry debt
  • planning services
  • parking permits, visitor vouchers, permission to park
  • skip licences
  • community alarm charges
  • housing benefit overpayments

Cheque guarantee cards are required for personal cheques.

Using cheques and postal orders only, you can pay for the following in person:

  • council mortgages

All cheques should be made payable to Islington Council.

Opening hours are 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday (except Wednesday 8.30am to 6pm).

There is a queuing system and queuing times may be longer at periods of peak demand on Mondays, Thursday mornings and council tax instalment dates (1st of each month).

When making a payment at the counter, please include the payment slip or account number to ensure the payment is credited to the correct account.


Access for All

  • The main entrance is wheelchair friendly. There is also space for disabled parking and a ramp at the rear of the building.
  • There are induction loops to assist the hard of hearing, and a wheelchair accessible counter.
  • There is a videphone link to a sign language interpreter if needed. (Mon to Fri, 9am to 5pm).
  • Community language interpreters can be accessed by telephone.

Payments can also be made by post. Send your cheques or postal orders to:
