There is nothing better than music to add dignity and to create the right
atmosphere at your wedding or civil partnership. Whether played from a tape or
CD or by live musicians, your choice of music will set the mood during your
ceremony and the pace for your evening celebrations. Hit the right notes and
your special day will be enjoyed and remembered by all.
Arranging your wedding music should be a high priority once you have your date
and venues confirmed. Popular musicians, bands and DJs can be booked up to a
year or more ahead. Try to hear your musicians or DJ before you book. Many
will have a demo tape that they can send you. Alternatively, ask them for
details of when they will be performing next so you can arrange to see and
hear them in action. You could also contact the local college or university
and ask if they have musicians who could play at your wedding. They may be far
cheaper to hire.
If you are getting married at a register office or an approved premise in
England or Wales, non-religious music is allowed, but must be approved by the
Superintendent Registrar. Non religious means all music that does not contain
words such as Lord, God, Heaven, Jesus and so on. If you have a song in mind
that you are not sure about, then ask the Superintendent Registrar. Remember
always to get approval for your choice of music from the Superintendent
Registrar or your church minister.
