Local Area Agreements

Local Area Agreements

Local Area Agreements (LAAs) are an agreement between central Government and local strategic partnerships – in our case, the Islington Strategic Partnership (ISP) – to deliver a set of agreed outcomes and targets over a three to five year period.

The LAA represents an exciting opportunity for all partners in the statutory, voluntary and community, business and faith sectors to come together to share expertise to address local issues that will make a difference to the quality of life for the people of Islington.

We have just agreed our second LAA which runs from 2008 to 2011. The priorities are around:

  • Reducing poverty

  • Raising educational standards

  • Promoting better mental and physical health

  • Improving the environment and addressing climate change

  • Better housing and meeting housing needs

  • Safer communities

  • Cohesive, active and empowered communities

These priorities and targets are delivered through the ISP's Thematic Partnerships namely:

  • Children's Board
  • Environment and Sustainability Partnership
  • Health and Wellbeing Partnership
  • Safer Islington Partnership
  • Social and Economic Wellbeing Partnership

A copy of our new LAA 2008-11 can be accessed below, together with the 'Islington Story' which sets out the rationale for the priorities and indicators we have identified.

A copy of our first LAA (2006-09) is also attached for information - though this has now been superseded by our new LAA.
