Children and young people are an important part of Islington. This is their Islington too and a place for them to live, play, learn and work. We want to make it even better.
Working together with parents, carers, the wider community, those working with children and children and young people themselves, the Islington Children’s Partnership wants to support children and young people in Islington as they grow up, making it possible for them to:
What is important for all of us is that every child and young person in Islington has the opportunity to achieve as much as they are able, and their parents, carers and communities have the support they need to nurture and care for them.
The Children and Young People's Plan (CYPP) describes the work that the Children’s Partnership is tackling and focuses on the priorities and actions that have been identified to improve the life chances of all our young people in Islington. The full Plan outlines the 7 key priorities for the Children's Partnership, where we are now, where we want to be and how we will get there. The full Plan and a summary version are available to download below.
Also available to download is the previous CYPP (2006-9), its appendices and a summary version.

In Islington we see effective commissioning as an important part of our children’s partnership arrangements and crucial to the implementation of our Children and Young People’s Plan (CYPP).
The Joint Commissioning Policy explains what we mean by commissioning, gives an overview of the principles that guide our approach, the activities involved, and what people who are affected by our commissioning decisions can expect from us.
The Commissioning Standards provide a Quality Assurance Framework for the implementation of the policy and check that Children’s Services are putting into practice what the policy says.
These documents can be downloaded below. For more information, please email: childrenspartnership@islington.gov.uk
In addition, in the Useful Websites section, you will find a link to the Commissioning Support Community website and a publication entitled 'Commissioning and the Community Sector'.
This has been written for community sector organisations to help them better understand how local authority commissioners are working to improve outcomes for children, young people and families and how they can make themselves “commissioning ready”.
