There are over 1,000 active voluntary and community groups working in Islington. Some such as Barnado's or Greenpeace are household names, while other small unfunded groups rely entirely on volunteers.

Ask Islington is the council’s directory of organisations and services in the borough. Search by organisation name or by using key words such as ‘refugees’, ‘sport’ or ‘volunteer’ etc. The directory describes the work of the organisations and gives full contact information. Islington Link – a searchable database of all community and voluntary organisations in Islington. The site, which was developed by a partnership between the council’s regeneration service and IVAC, allows you to search by category such as ‘counselling’ or ‘homeless’, giving you information and contacts for each group as well as links to organisations’ websites.
