Safer Islington Partnership

Safer Islington Partnership

The Safer Islington Partnership (SIP) is responsible for improving community safety and reducing crime across the borough. The Partnership was set up as a result of The Crime and Disorder Act (1998), which introduced local partnerships to address issues of crime and disorder. The primary responsibility is to produce and deliver a crime reduction strategy specifically for Islington.

The Partnership aims to create a stronger, safer community by:

  • reducing crime and disorder
  • tackling anti-social behaviour
  • tackling problems caused by substance misuse
  • ensuring people feel safe and have confidence in the criminal justice system

Membership of SIP includes representatives from the statutory and voluntary and community sectors including:

  • the Police
  • Islington Council
  • Islington Primary Care Trust
  • the London Fire Brigade
  • the Probation Services
  • the voluntary and community sector
  • the business sector
