A Carer is a term used to describe someone who, without payment, looks after a family member, partner or friend, because of their illness or disability. Approximately 6 million people in the UK help to look after others who need some extra help in everyday life. Carers can have a whole host of responsibilities - from doing the weekly shopping, to cooking and cleaning, to helping someone in and out of the shower.
