Islington Council is committed to treating everyone with dignity and respect. This is essential both to achieving our vision of creating a fairer society and recognising that equality of opportunity and community cohesion are central to achieveing it. An Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) is the tool Islington Council uses to ensure the policies which shape our work are ensuring equal access to all our services. An EIA looks at whether working practices are likely to have a positive or negative impact across the diverse communities in the Borough.
A systematic and robust approach to equality impact assessments will help ensure that Islington Council treats everyone equally, with dignity and respect. In so doing this will help improve the quality of life of all residents and make Islington a place where people of all backgrounds are able to achieve their full potential.
