Since 2004, the council’s Environment and Regeneration department has
commissioned a range of vocational training courses across Islington to meet
the skills needs of residents and employers.
This current
series of training courses have now finished, but we are planning more courses
later in the year.
The training will be delivered at
different local venues by a range of providers offering personalised advice
and guidance, skills training, employment advice and access to job vacancies.
We are keeping a record of people interested in training in any of the sectors
listed below, so please get in touch if you want to be included. To be
eligible you must live in either Islington or Camden, be over 16, have the
right to work in the UK and be looking for employment in any of the following
sectors:
• hospitality and catering
• cultural tourism
• childcare
• horticulture
• creative industries
Other courses will include access
to sports coaching and community interpreting.
The training
is free and aims to improve skill levels, provide qualifications and help
people into work.
Crèche and childcare places will also be
offered.
