Young Consumers of the Year Competition

Islington’s Young Consumer of the Year Competition

The Islington final of the 2011 Young Consumer of the Year competition took place on Thursday 10 February at the Emirates Stadium with Charlie Higson as Question Master.

On 24 March the winning team from Central Foundation's Year 10 and a team from St Aloysious went on to represent Islington at the London Regional Final at the O2 Arena.  Sadly they narrowly missed out on the Regional title to a team from Southwark.

This annual competition, which is organised by the council’s trading standards team, gives local students the opportunity to test their consumer rights and current affairs knowledge.  The competition is run nationally by the Trading Standards Institute.

In 2011 we had eight teams enter from Central Foundation, Mount Carmel Technology College, St Aloysius College and Islington Police Cadets.

Islington had teams representing London at the National Final of the competition in both 2008 and 2009 and we would like to again in 2012
