Plain English Crystal Mark Campaign

The site carries the Plain English Crystal Mark, awarded by the Plain English Campaign (PEC). The PEC campaign against the use of jargon in public documents, including websites. The Crystal Mark has become widely recognised as a guarantee that a document has been written and designed as clearly as possible.

The campaign regularly checks websites with the Crystal Mark to make sure they adhere to their standards.

We also regularly check pages across the website to make sure they follow Plain English guidelines. Wherever possible, we simplify council terms or jargon.

If you find a page that you don't understand because of the language used, please contact us using the General Enquiries form.
